David Beckham has made his debut for Italian giants AC Milan against Hamburger SV in the Dubai Football Challenge at the The Emirates Sevens Stadium in Dubai. It was feared that the midfielder - on loan from LA Galaxy - would miss the game following an injury picked up in training, but he was given the all clear after a last minute fitness test.
But Italy striker Francesco Totti claims his arrival will weaken the team. Beckham played the firsthalf of a friendly against Hamburg in Dubai and is due to make his Serie A debut at Roma on Sunday. But with huge competition for starting places, Roma captain Totti believes including Beckham - on loan from LA Galaxy - will "unbalance" Milan. "I like Beckham a lot and I'm glad he's chosen to play in our league," he said. "But let's hope Carlo Ancelotti fields all his big-name players together. I honestly think that could be an advantage for us as the team would be unbalanced."
Francesco Totti, the Roma captain, says he is excited by the arrival of David Beckham in Italy. The England midfielder could make his debut for AC Milan in a friendly with Hamburg tonight after agreeing a two-month loan deal from Los Angeles Galaxy and Totti has expressed his admiration Beckham.
"I am really curious about David's arrival to Italy," he said. "He is an icon. I am delighted he has chosen to play in our league, even if it will be for a short spell. "Beckham is a lad I like a lot just as I like his wife. They are two beautiful people to see. Many will envy them."

Newly-crowned European Footballer of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his joy at picking up the coveted Golden Ball accolade. It was perhaps an expected victory in the 2008 Ballon d’Or race. Manchester United and Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo convincingly brushed aside his rivals, Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres by tallying a record 446 points, beating the previous mark of 444 amassed by Kaka last year.
In a brief interview with the publication that hands out the award, France Football Magazine, Ronaldo expressed his delight to join the elite group of players to take home the gong.
“To win this award at just 23 years of age is incredible, because I only started my career a few years ago,” he told the magazine. “But it is fantastic as there were a lot of other big names in the race this year such as [Lionel] Messi, [Fernando] Torres and even Xavi. “All these players could have won it, but nevertheless, I’m happy to have taken it,” he added.
Ronaldo then went on to show is gratitude to his teammates for playing a part in his success.“I have to thank all my teammates who helped me become the best. “I was never afraid of whether or not I would win it because I was always conscious of the great year I had last season.
“This is one of the happiest days of my life. Those who know me or who have lived with me know that this is a dream come true for me. “But tomorrow morning in training, I will still be the same person as always,” he concluded.
Ronaldo becomes only the third Portuguese, after Eusebio and Luis Figo, to win the Ballon d'Or.
